This recipe is similar to Dates and nuts roll I posted few years back. But its procedure is much easier than dates roll. I tried this with the leftover pack of dates. Date and Nut Balls or Ladoos (Laddus) are probably the quickest and easiest sweet you can make for Diwali this year.

Steps to make Dates and Nuts Ladoo:
  1. Heat 1 teaspoon ghee in a nonstick pan, add chopped dates and cook on low flame until soft. Grind the dates in a mixer to a coarse paste. Add chopped nuts and grind again for few seconds. The nuts should be still chunky.
  2. Remove the dates and nuts mixture from the mixer, add crushed cardamom and knead well. Grease your hand with some melted ghee and make small balls. Roll each balls in desiccated coconut.
  3. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week at room temperature.
  4. NOTES - For this recipe, use soft and sweet dates.
  5. Use any varieties of nuts to suit your taste.
  6. Desiccated coconut is a grated dried coconut.

There are many variations of these delcious ladoos and mine are probably the most stripped down and basic version. I cooked down the dates a bit and mashed in the nuts to give it a.
