Instructions to make Dana Khichdi:
  1. Wash and soak rice and arhar dal together in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a small pressure cooker heat ghee and oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon piece and a bay leaf. When mustard seeds crackles add asafoetida, green chillies and sesame seeds.
  3. Add fresh green peas, papdi dana and tuvar dana. Add chopped potato, carrot and brijal. Saute for couple of minutes. Add soaked rice and dal (without water) and saute for couple of minutes.
  4. Add 3 cups or required water and mix well. Add salt turmeric powder and black pepper powder. Mix well. Cover with lid and cook until 3-4 whistles. Dana Khichdi is ready to serve. Serve with kadhi and papad.
