- Pressure cook lentils with turmeric, green chillies, ginger garlic paste and tomatoes until done. Meanwhile boil raw tamarind with 2 cups of water for 5 minutes.
- Squeeze the juice out of it using a strainer pressing down with a wooden spatula. Open the lid of the cooker after the pressure settles down. Add the tamarind water to it and bring it to a rolling boil at first.
- After it starts boiling vigorously, simmer on a medium high heat for 15 minutes. Add curry leaves and chopped coriander too. Finally add the hot tempering to it after adjusting salt.
